New baby arrives at The Promise House
(First newspaper article)
Newborn found in KZN park
A newborn girl has
been found abandoned under a tree in a park in
Sunningdale, KwaZulu-Natal, paramedics said on
Tuesday.
A woman and her son were walking in the park on
Monday when they heard a baby's cries, said
Netcare 911 spokesman Jeff Wicks.
They found the infant under a tree and
immediately called paramedics, who found the
child covered in mud and ants. The umbilical
cord and placenta were still attached, Wicks
said.
The baby was treated at the scene for mild
hypothermia before being taken to the Netcare
Umhlanga Hospital where she was in a stable
condition under observation. - Sapa
